Risk Factors for Sleep Apnea
  • Male
  • Over the age of 40
  • Obese, or over weight

Some symptoms of Sleep Apnea
  • Loud snoring in short bursts
  • Excessive daytime sleepiness
  • Having the feeling of not having a good night's sleep every night
  • Waking up in the middle of the night with a gasp for air

As of right now, there are no medical treatments to get rid of Sleep Apnea, but there are ways to help deal with it. One way is to use a C-PAP breathing machine. This pumps oxygen into the body through the nose and mouth at the same time so if you sleep with your mouth shut, you're still getting oxygen. Some of the other ways are to use a sleeping mouth piece, or to change your lifestyle.

People don't usually know they have sleep apnea. It's their sleeping partners or room mates that notice it. Sleep Apnea doesn't usually get worse. You either have it, or you don't. There is nothing that makes you get it, like another disease or illness. All you can do, is stay healthy and if symptoms start to happen, then get it checked out by your doctor.
